The TRIFIT Gulf Heat Protocol

Train intelligently when the temperature changes the rules.

Personalised endurance coaching that considers heat, humidity, training location, recovery and hydration for athletes living and competing in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Heat changes the training decision

Training in Gulf conditions is not just the same session, slower.

Heat and humidity change more than how a session feels. They change what the session should look like—and what it can reasonably ask of you.

  • Heart rate and perceived effort
  • Pace and power expectations
  • Fluid and electrolyte requirements
  • Recovery between sessions
  • Training time and location
  • Race preparation and pacing

Progressive heat acclimatisation

Heat exposure should be progressive—not improvised.

This is coaching guidance, not medical treatment. Heat exposure is introduced gradually, based on:

  • The athlete's current heat tolerance
  • Training history
  • Event location and expected conditions
  • Current workload and recovery
  • Access to indoor and outdoor training
  • Signs that the athlete is not adapting appropriately

Sweat-rate and hydration assessment

Estimate your own fluid loss in under a minute.

Simple field-based sweat-rate assessments help estimate how much fluid an athlete loses in different conditions. This information supports more individual hydration planning for training and racing.

This includes

  • Pre- and post-session body-mass comparison
  • Session duration
  • Fluid consumed
  • Environmental conditions
  • Estimated hourly fluid loss
  • Practical hydration and electrolyte guidance

Data interpreted in context

A heat-affected workout is not a poor workout.

Pace, power and heart rate can look very different in extreme heat. Telani reviews the session together with temperature, humidity, perceived effort, hydration and athlete feedback—so the numbers are read in context, not in isolation.

Powered by TriLoadTRIFIT's proprietary performance-analysis platform, founded and developed by Telani Grobler.
01

Full context review

Heat, humidity, hydration and effort are reviewed alongside the raw TrainingPeaks data.

02

Fair interpretation

A slower or harder-feeling session in extreme heat is assessed for what it actually was.

03

Adjusted next steps

Training ahead is shaped by what your body handled that day, not by the number alone.

Race preparation

Preparing for a hot race is its own discipline.

  • Acclimatisation planning
  • Race-week heat management
  • Pacing adjustments
  • Hydration and electrolyte strategy
  • Cooling options
  • Clothing and equipment considerations
  • Recognising when conditions require a safer decision

A note on safety. Stop training and seek medical assistance if you experience symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, nausea, or if you stop sweating in the heat. This coaching guidance supports your training decisions and does not replace medical advice.
