Half Marathon PB · Dubai Race Edition · Burj2Burj and Creek Striders

Run your fastest Dubai half marathon.

A 12-week TrainingPeaks plan for runners who have finished a half marathon and want to go faster. Built for Burj2Burj, the Dubai Creek Striders Half and other January half marathons in Dubai, with paces from your own 5 km test, heat-smart guidance and a race-day plan.

Why this plan exists

A faster half comes from the right pace, practised often.

Most runners chasing a PB run their easy days too hard and their race pace too rarely. This plan gives you two focused sessions a week, threshold work and race-pace practice, and keeps everything else easy so you can absorb them.

For a January race, the early weeks fall in Dubai’s hot months, when pace targets can mislead you. Every session tells you when to start before sunrise, when to use a treadmill and when to run by effort, so the heat does not cost you the build.

Inside the plan

Twelve weeks, counting down to race day.

  1. Weeks 1–3

    Foundation

A 5 km test to set your paces, then a threshold session and a race-pace session every week.

  2. Week 4

    Recovery

Less running and lighter strength, with short touches of threshold and race pace.

  3. Weeks 5–7

    Build

Longer threshold and race-pace work, long runs up to 115 minutes, and race pace moving into the long run.

  4. Week 8

    Recover and retest

A lighter week with your second 5 km test to update your paces.

  5. Weeks 9–10

    Race-specific

Longer race-pace blocks in the long run, then a dress rehearsal with 2 × 20 minutes at race pace.

  6. Weeks 11–12

    Taper and race

Less running, short pace reminders, and your PB attempt on the Sunday.

  • 12 weeks of structured runs and short strength sessions that sync to Garmin and other compatible watches
  • About 3–4¾ hours of running a week: 5 runs and 2 short strength sessions, with Monday and Friday rest
  • Two quality sessions a week: threshold work to raise the pace you can hold, and race-pace practice
  • 5 km time trials in weeks 1 and 8, with the free TRIFIT threshold pace calculator to set your paces
  • Long runs set by time, building to 115 minutes, with a shorter option for every long run
  • A race-day plan: pacing by kilometre, fueling and drinking
  • TRIFIT heat guidance on every session, for the weeks when Dubai is still hot

Plan + Race-Day Plan

How it works.

Telani sets up your plan in TrainingPeaks herself, so there is no store purchase to make. After that, you train on your own, and her support comes at set points: pace checks after your two tests, your race-day plan in week 11 and a call in race week.

Frequently asked questions.

Do I need TrainingPeaks Premium?

No. A free TrainingPeaks account is enough to receive and complete the plan.

How do I set my training paces?

Run the 5 km time trial in week 1, then enter your time in the free TRIFIT threshold pace calculator. It gives your threshold pace for TrainingPeaks, the pace for every zone and your half-marathon PB race pace. You repeat the test in week 8.

What happens after I book Plan + Race-Day Plan?

After payment, Telani connects with you on TrainingPeaks and loads the full plan into your calendar, lined up to your race date. You train on your own and send your 5 km time after the week 1 and week 8 tests for a pace check. Your personal race-day plan arrives in week 11, with kilometre splits for your goal time, followed by a 15-minute call in race week. Weekly check-ins and plan changes are part of TRIFIT coaching, not this package.

Can I use the plan for next year’s race?

Yes. The plan has no fixed dates. It is set to end on your race date, with race day on the Sunday of week 12. Burj2Burj and the Dubai Creek Striders Half are both on Sundays.

This will be my first half marathon. Is it for me?

Not this one. It has two quality sessions a week and assumes you have already finished a half marathon. Have a look at the first-finish plans on the Training Plans page instead.

What if I miss sessions?

Skip what you missed and carry on with the current week. Do not try to catch up, and never move two quality sessions onto back-to-back days. For a plan that adapts around your life, TRIFIT coaching is the better option.

What if it is hot?

For a January race, the early weeks usually fall in Dubai’s hot months. Every session has a TRIFIT heat note: when to run on a treadmill, when to start before sunrise, and when to run by effort instead of pace. It is training guidance, not medical advice.
